Every Household Should Have Paper And Envelopes

Not so many people write letters these days, so many of them might not maintain a supply of paper and envelopes at home. Some people may have some paper handy on which to write notes, but at the same time have no envelopes. However, there will be those born before the advent of the internet era, and who have been accustomed to writing letter, who have both.

Young people brought up in the internet era may feel that these two things are out of date. Who wants to waste time sitting down to write, or type a letter, yes typewriters are still in existence, then address an envelope and take the letter down to the post office to be stamped and sent. Everyone knows that any message can be sent by electronic means within a few seconds.

If you have paper and envelopes you must write on them. After all, that is what they are for. To do this a person must have some writing skill, he must know his grammar and spelling, and how to put sentences together correctly. For the modern generation this may prove a problem, judging from the very poor standard of English to be seen on internet forums, blogs, and even on well-designed websites.

Envelopes cannot fall out of fashion because they are so necessary. It would be impossible to send a Christmas or birthday card, wedding or party invitation without them. The unsolicited mail received from mass-mailers in their advertising promotions always comes in envelopes. Political parties and other organization use them for canvassing and fund-raising. They are used for enclosing gifts of money for children too.

Paper and envelopes usually go hand in hand, but not always. Paper is used in quantity in the production of leaflets, brochures, catalogs and calendars, used in the promotion of assorted merchandise or events. During elections there will be the candidates' pictures posted up everywhere, and countless political tracts will be thrust into your mailbox. Your neighborhood hyper-market, or supermarket, will regular price reductions brought to you on brightly colored printed paper.

In the old days, and not so long ago, the receipt of every gift or invitation, required an thank you letter, or a written response. RSVP it would say on the invitation, and that meant the receiver was obliged to reply in writing. Failure to do so would reveal a poor upbringing and a lack of good manners and politeness. A reply would necessarily have to be nicely and correctly written on paper and envelope.

Paper comes in many forms, and for many uses it is indispensable. Furthermore it has the advantage that it is biodegradable. Whenever you buy a product in a shop it is likely to be be wrapped in some kind of paper. There was a trend at one time to replace it with some plastic type material, but with the green environmental movement, this has gone out of favor, and it has regained its former place.

Don't forget that your university degree hanging there in its nice frame on the wall is made of paper. After all, who wants to have a degree on plastic which would look and feel cheap. Synthetic materials and the internet have taken their toll, but the mail service still remains, delivering millions of pieces of mail to offices and households throughout the country. And all these deliveries prove that paper and envelopes are still useful.
